So I went out today and did a thing......
If you haven't heard of or seen the @theburgrocks facebook page go check it out. Go ahead, I'll wait...........
Are you back? Awesome. Now I have to credit my friend Rebecca Russel from the Creative Art Studio for turning me on to this whole thing. So here's what you do. You paint some rocks. You go anywhere in Fredericksburg (seriously, anywhere, they have been found downtown, in Central Park, by the hospital everywhere) and you hide your painted rocks. Then if you feel like it you can go rock hunting yourself. It's like a HUGE egg hunt but with rocks instead. It's so much fun from the painting to the hiding to the finding. Now if you are reading this from say...Culpeper. Don't worry you don't have to go all the way to Fredericksburg to join in on the fun. They are doing it in the 'pep too and I plan on getting some rocks hidden there too. Now for my Orange County peeps. I'm not sure if anyone has gotten anything going in town yet, but I know some Locust Grove folks have been hiding here and there.
But why? For fun y'all! To make people happy! Just because. Sometimes we get so mired down in all the junk going in our own lives and in the world we forget to make time for happy days.
Today was such an absolute joy for me. Not only did a couple of my Daydream ELITE Senior Models come out to Kenmore Park today to paint and hide rocks, we invited people in the park to join us. You know what happened? We all sat and held conversations.... real live face to face conversations! We met people in our community. We met people who actually live elsewhere and were visiting family and happened to be at the park. After that we went out and hid our rocks. You know what we got? EXCERCISE. And now even before I have had a chance to finish writing this post people are finding the rocks we painted today and hid today and they are posting them on the page and SMILING...BIG HAPPY FUN SMILES.
I will do this again very soon. I hope maybe you'll join me next time!
Tell me have you found any painted rocks? Have you seen any from this post? Will you be painting and hiding any rocks?
